“Be the change you want to see in the world.”
Kwetu Foundation (KF) was established in 2004 to provide a platform for women and children who are mostly disproportionately infected and affected by the HIV and AIDS pandemic, to become a productive, competitive and resilient to the achievement of millennium and sustainable development goals in Malawi.
Throughout the ages, women have contributed effectively and actively to all social, political, cultural and economic fields and they have participated in the building of civilizations and training of generations. Despite these important contributions, women today suffer exclusion, marginalization and face difficulties impeding their participation in decision making processes. In Malawi, just like in many parts of the world, women are facing threats to their lives, health and well- being as a result of being overburdened with work and power imbalance.
This strategy will focus on advancing the rights of vulnerable women and girls including those affected by HIV in areas of health, gender equality, social inclusion and economic empowerment. Considering that Kwetu Foundation was primarily crated to serve the interests of women living with HIV, the organization has reviewed its mandate to align itself of global, regional and national development frameworks.
In 2015, Kwetu Foundation rebranded and focus on more issues affecting vulnerable women, girls and boys beyond issues of HIV in line with recent shifts made through the Sustainable Development Goals in which health has become a key priority that encompasses HIV.
